Our History:
Antioch Christian Church dates back nearly 200 years, to July 20, 1822, when two acres of land was donated on which to construct a Christian Church. At their first meeting to discuss and go forward with a church, the people present decided that since in the Holy Word the people first called Christians were at Antioch; Antioch was the name for their Christian Church.
Fifty years later in 1872, the building was remodeled and enlarged. During the remodeling, a brush arbor was built in which to hold services until the construction was complete. Over the years an additional 3 3/4 acres of land was donated to the church to expand construction and the cemetery.
The present building was constructed in 1902 and moved to where it currently stands in 1952. Additions and remodeling of this building have continued, and today this beautiful brick church stands in marked contrast to the old frame structure and brush arbor of the 1800's.
In 1965, the church voted to leave the Southern Convention and became an Independent Baptist church.
